Jair Bolsonaro has been taken into custody after authorities found he posed a serious risk of fleeing while under domestic detention.

The former head of state was sentenced of orchestrating a armed takeover in September and sentenced more than 27 years in prison, but he continued under house arrest pending court reviews.

Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes said the move to detain the 70-year-old politician was a preventative measure after fresh information were revealed.

This included attempting to break his electronic bracelet and a invitation to a demonstration that could enable a chance to flee".

Legal Document Reveals Flight Fears

Context of Sentencing
