A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his first trophy for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a challenging season, winning just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with former mentor his previous coach.

Currently working with his coach and Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial trophy after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface since March of the previous year.

Success also signifies Medvedev has secured twenty-one championships at 21 different events.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a trophy is really nice," stated ranked player the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the first title I won when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his last six title deciders, comprising in that event previously this season.

The player's counter-punching approach and frequent reactions on the tennis court had led observers to question if his skill to perform at the elite level was over.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and perform assertively, supported by an improved serve.

He recovered from a break down in the first set against the challenging Moutet, taking 4 of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial professional championship, gained dominance to create a final set.

Moutet saved 4 early-game chances in a close third set before Medvedev won the break to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner secured victory with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
